Summary of the Case of Pat Farmer

Patricia Farmer, 60, was unhappy with the way her daughter Ladonna Morrow was living her life, and the way that she was raising her son. So in December 1990, Pat decided to kidnap her own grandson in order to save him from living a bad life filled with abuse and Satanic worship. (These were only allegations. The police found no evidence of abuse in her home) She took Jared while on a court appointed visit in New Mexico. She basically just disappeared. Ladonna Morrow waited for a quite sometime for them to return, but they never did. She notified authorities and an investigation ensued. Patricia Farmer and her grandson lived a life on the run for about 19 months until Unsolved Mysteries did a segment on the case. At the time Pat and Jared were living in Louisiana. She quickly left for Salt Lake City once she saw that Unsolved Mysteries would be running the episode the very next day. Tips came in that they were living in Louisiana, but she had already disappeared by the time the police arrived. She was ultimately found in Salt Lake City, Utah and was taken into custody by the FBI. Jared Lee Peters was very excited to see his mother after so much time. He told her that he had been looking for her all over the place.
Tidbits
Police had evidence that she had lived in Texas and Mississippi while on the run. Pat Farmer’s other daughter knew where Jared was the entire time. In fact she and her boyfriend stayed at some of the locations. According to her they left for Utah, in 1991. She defended her mother when interviewed.
I have been unable to find out any more information on the case. The last info that I have is that she was last taken into custody in Salt Lake City, Utah.
